Kelly Zemnickis got her start in the Toronto comedy scene as a teenager, working clubs as a lighting technician. She then made her stand-up comedy debut at the tender age of 37. Since that first set in 2016, Kelly has been featured on CBC Radio’s LOL, has graced stages from L.A. to Montreal and released her debut album Sugar n’ Spice & Smirnoff Ice (Howl & Roar Records) in 2023. Kelly has featured for such headliners as Kevin Farley and Brian Kiley and has been seen at the North Carolina and Burbank Comedy Festivals. She’s also a podcaster, hosting Holler & Whine (Tape Deck Media) and co-hosting Order Up! (Showbiz Monkeys). Kelly is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker, having co-produced the 9/11 first responder documentary No Responders Left Behind (Paradox Pictures/Blue Ant Media) and co-directed Janelle Niles: Inconvenient (Hot Docs: Citizen Minutes 2). Her latest documentary, Making Connections is currently looking for distribution. And Kelly’s sophomore album Lady Comic is now available on the Comedy Dynamics label.
Oh! In case you were wondering, NO… she’s NOT related to the movie director, Robert Zemeckis… on account of their last names not being the same.
