“Making Connections” is a short documentary about figuring out how to make people laugh during the height of the pandemic, which for Kelly, shone a light on how inaccessible Toronto comedy clubs are. No matter where you live, the barriers to artistic spaces are present. In Kelly’s latest documentary offering, she hopes to increase awareness, and encourage accessibility- everywhere.

Janelle Niles is a Black, Mi’kmaw, two-spirited woman from Sipekne’katik First Nation in Nova Scotia and a stand-up comedian. Despite a tumultuous upbringing, Janelle embraces her biracial experience and queer identity, using stand-up to usher in a new era of inclusive, Canadian comedy.
