Anyone who knows me knows that when I produce a show here in Toronto, I make an effort to put on a show where anyone can truly enter. ANYone. Because the majority of comedy shows here in Toronto are in clubs in basements or the tippy top floor… and that’s great, IF YOU CAN CLIMB STAIRS.
Not everyone can climb stairs.
You know that, I know, but it’s good to remember when you walk up a step or staircase that not everyone can do what you just did. And there might be a day where you won’t be able to do that either.
It’s just a fact, not a funny fact, but not all facts are funny. .. EXCEPT this fact:
omets smell like rotten eggs. A comet smells like rotten eggs, urine, burning matches, and… almonds. Traces of hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, sulphur dioxide, and hydrogen cyanide were all found in the makeup of the comet 67P/Churyumove-Gerasimenko. Promotional postcards were even commissioned in 2016 carrying the pungent scent of a comet.
Thanks, BBC for that fun and funny fact!!
And so now…. I’ll tell you about a show I’m producing with my VERY funny friend, John Mandrow! John is really one of the funniest guys you’ll meet, but because John uses a wheelchair… he’s not someone you’ll see at Toronto clubs. John was a regular at a show I ran at The Imperial Pub ( a gem of a Toronto bar that was one of the oldest bars in the city AND FULLY ACCESSIBLE), but then the Imperial got scheduled for demolition and well… may she rest in peace. I miss that bar A LOT.
BUT! Toronto’s Second City IS an accessible theatre!! And that is where John is gonna headline on December 2nd!!! We’d love to see YOU at The John Mandrow (& Friends!) Show!
Because telling jokes in accessible spaces is cool.
